Challenge

SKCAC Industries & Employment Services has been creating job opportunities for people with disabilities since 1967. With staff working both on-site and off-site, SKCAC struggled to manage time tracking, payroll accuracy, and process efficiency while keeping administrative costs low. They needed a partner who understood the unique needs of nonprofits and could deliver reliable, cost-effective solutions.

Results

By implementing PayNW’s payroll and timekeeping system, SKCAC empowered staff to log hours from any location, ensuring accurate reporting and timely paychecks. The system even supported legacy productivity-based pay structures in their assembly facility. Beyond efficiency and cost savings, SKCAC values PayNW’s ongoing commitment to their mission—providing not only technology but also partnership that helps them continue creating meaningful employment opportunities.

Since 1967, SKCAC Industries & Employment Services has empowered people with disabilities through meaningful work opportunities. Based in Kent, Washington, SKCAC provides training, employment, and job placement services to more than 100 individuals each year. With a 33,000-square-foot manufacturing facility and partnerships at sites like T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field, SKCAC offers employment in packaging, assembly, custodial work, and more. Supported by 35 staff members, SKCAC helps individuals gain skills, earn income, and foster independence, dignity, and community inclusion. For nearly six decades, SKCAC has remained committed to its mission of opening doors to employment for people too often excluded from the workforce.

The Challenge

PayNW-SKCAC-Case-Study.pdf (4)SKCAC Industries & Employment Services provides training and job opportunities for people with disabilities, with staff working both on-site and off-site. Managing time tracking and payroll was a challenge—especially ensuring accurate reporting from remote job sites while controlling administrative costs. As a nonprofit, SKCAC needed to streamline its processes so more resources could go directly toward advancing its mission rather than administrative overhead.

The Solution

In 2009, SKCAC partnered with PayNW to implement payroll and timekeeping systems designed for flexibility and cost efficiency. Employees were given the ability to clock in and out via smartphone, ensuring accurate records whether they were at SKCAC’s 33,000-square-foot facility or working off-site at places like T-Mobile Park and Lumen Field. PayNW also customized the system to accommodate SKCAC’s legacy productivity-based pay model, ensuring timely and accurate paychecks while respecting the organization’s unique needs.

PayNW has been great supporters of our mission of empowering people with developmental disabilities through gainful employment opportunities. — Debbie Meyers, Executive Director
PayNW-SKCAC-Case-Study.pdf (3)PayNW, at its heart, is a company focused on making it easier to be an employer and to add convenience and dignity to being an employee. That SKCAC’s mission is to provide employment opportunities for people with disabilities, a segment of our population often excluded from  employment opportunities, makes it even more satisfying, and important, for our company to support their efforts.

The Results

With PayNW, SKCAC gained confidence that payroll was accurate, timely, and cost-efficient. Employees benefited from the convenience of mobile time tracking and reliable pay, while administrators reduced the burden of manual processes. Most importantly, SKCAC could reallocate savings and efficiency gains back into its mission—creating more job opportunities for people with disabilities. Over time, the partnership has grown beyond payroll, with PayNW supporting SKCAC as both a service provider and a community partner dedicated to their long-standing mission of empowerment through employment.
